Oh, hey! The second chapter of Lord of the Rings will be released tonight, and you can bet on my appearance at the local theatre. While not my favorite book of the trilogy, the Two Towers develops and matures the characters before the final act and subsequent challenges, so it plays an important role. And hell, there’s always the Helm’s Deep battle that’s rumored to be at least a straight 45 minutes on film.
I watched the extended version of the Fellowship of the Ring late last night, and I have to say that the added footage really fleshes out the story and characters compared to the theatrical release; it may just be a reflection of my own obsession with the original books, however.

Okay, forget the last message. Driving for a freaking ten hours in heavy rain, hydroplaning the entire way home is not a good start for the holidays. Bah, humbug. At least I’m now comfy and cozy on the sofa with my lil’ niece, who is beginning to say things (what they are, we don’t yet know).

And so, another year draws towards a close. The semester is over, Christmas is near, and here I sit, sipping genuine Puerto Rican coffee and listening to smooth jazz. Tomorrow begins another long trip home, to see family and friends, for a three week vacation. I can imagine little Elyssa playing with her toys by the fireplace, the annual church Christmas production, and my family united for the first time since last Christmas. Ah, what tidings of joy this season brings.
