The Beauty of Imperfection

Just finished reading George R. R. Martin and Lisa Tuttle’s Windhaven, a relaxing story written in a soft, mellow style very uncommon to other sci-fi/fantasy pieces I’ve read.
Martin is one of few authors who seems to perfectly catch the imperfections that characterize humanity. Unfortunately, his stories grow more somber and sorrowful the more his characters display real flaws — the only saving grace to our world is never visible in his.
Gah, now I’m getting somber.
