In the Twinkling of an Eye

Sometimes, when life throws you a curveball, all you can do is flow with the motion and pray that you’ll hit a homerun. I’m waking up from the fantasy of film school and having faith that the reality God has for me will be just as fantastic.
A Plethora of Holiday Miracles

About two minutes ago, I saw my poor camera still sitting on the night table, still sad, still broken. I picked it up, and Lo! it started working again! After a month of frustration trying to get it to work properly, I couldn’t believe it. That’s one of the best Christmas presents I’ve gotten this year! The above photo is one of the last that I had taken when the camera broke.
The other best present arrived yesterday morning and weighed in at 6 lbs, 6 oz. — Chloe Elyse, my second beautiful niece. Woo!

“A popular and talented Lathrop High School senior was killed and his younger brother was seriously hurt after the Jeep they were in slid out of control on an icy bridge Friday morning and crashed into an abandoned vehicle that had also slid off the road.”
Josh was a good friend, fellow volunteer, and an admirable Christian. We first met online in 1998 during the founding of a small online magazine that ultimately influenced a lot of our later dreams. To most of you, this is a sad but common tragedy — to his colleagues, friends, and family, it affects everything.
I miss you, Josh, but I know I’ll see you again one day!
“I will do everything I do to the best of my abilities, and be as good as I possibly can be. Exactly what I do or what I am good at seems to be of little consequence; what matters is that I push myself to do everything that can possibly be done…” - J.B.

He walked in the room, called roll, and proceeded to discuss why the antagonist in a William Faulkner short story was not gay. Twenty minutes later, he switched to why the protagonist did not sleep with a corpse.
I think I’m going to find this class very interesting.

Wow, it’s been almost a month since I posted last; political overload will do that to you, I suppose. I’ll try to make it up with a few posts in rapid succession today. Until the next, you can read my review of the Matrix Reloaded, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Regardless of its dubious necessity, the Homeland Security Dept.’s Ready.gov is one of the best government sites I’ve ever seen. The layout is clear, concise, and appropriate. I wish that could be said of FirstGov.

It’s been almost a month since I’ve been able to post anything here, and you’d think there would be a lot to say. For instance, I could comment on the current political situation with Iraq and the disappointing lack of support for a rather necessary step of action; or, there’s always the tried and true personal reports about life, school, and finding the right local Italian restaurants; I suppose even a detailed look into HGTV and how its life-sucking design shows can influence a relatively sane person into a work-a-holic interior decorator.
Nah.

Fourteen days after Christmas and the very first day of college classes, I’m sitting in the middle of a packed house, boxes towering over this miniscule computer screen, watching my newest obsession: Cirque Du Soleil: Fire Within. It’s strange how the course of a life can change in the blink of an eye.

Okay, forget the last message. Driving for a freaking ten hours in heavy rain, hydroplaning the entire way home is not a good start for the holidays. Bah, humbug. At least I’m now comfy and cozy on the sofa with my lil’ niece, who is beginning to say things (what they are, we don’t yet know).
